About Eastward

We’re a collective of creatives, driven by curiosity, that bring a range of experiences and disciplines together under one filmmaking roof. We believe in delivering work with identity, direction, and purpose. And we believe in having a little fun while we do it.

Our Story

We’ve been around a bit, every member of Eastward has been building, shaping, sketching, doodling, drawing, hot-glue-gunning, paper-mache-ing, but most of all, making, for as long as we can remember. We’ve since grown up to be artists and designers, computer geeks, and film nerds, all with one goal: making work as good as the people we’re making it for.

Our Process

Jamie co-founded Eastward (nee Eastward Films) in 2011 with Jake. Since, he’s written, directed, received awards for his writing and directing and grown Eastward from a dream in a basement to a nationally-recognized production company. He has ten years of experience in the film and television industries, makes a great fish taco, and insists that the 930 club in is the best music venue in the country. Jamie heads up Eastward East, located in Washington D.C.

Meghan has been a member of the Eastward team since 2016. She has over 10 years of experience in the production and business development world so she’s our go-to for partnerships and productions. As a Harry Potter head, she frequently uses her Time-Turner Necklace to jump from overseeing productions to creatively leading them. When she’s not performing acts of pure magic, she wastes her time on b-horror films, video games, and short walks on the beach. She has no opinion on the merits of the 9:30 club.

Amir ended his freelance career to join Eastward in its formative years. He watched it grow from it's humble beginnings to what it is now. Amir brings to Eastward a carefully crafted mix of the technical and artistic. Through his work with Eastward from local commercials to feature films, he seeks to create meaningful pieces through harmony of both function and form. He also remembers when 930 used to be host to exclusively punk and metal shows.

Abi first encountered Eastward back in 2016 at an Escape Room. Though she failed to help them escape the room, she has since proven herself otherwise valuable and officially joined the team in 2018. With several years of freelance experience in the video production and graphic design fields, Abi brings her creative and organizational skills to Eastward via producing, editing, design, and whatever else is needed of her. She prefers The Anthem to the 930 Club.

Our Process

We start by imagining each project as a conversation: who are we talking to, and what are we telling them, and how are we saying it? Once we get those parameters down, we have a big concepting session where we throw tons of stuff at the wall (literally, there’s a big wall we put ideas on) and get together a shortlist of the best ones.

Then we pitch these back to you, to see what aligns with your vision, or your client’s. You pick your favorite(s), and then we move to scripting and/or storyboarding, where the idea takes form. You approve the scripts and/or storyboards, and then we go to production, where we’ll film, generate, or animate what we’ve designed.

After production, we’ll move to editing and finishing, where you’re welcome to sit in at our office, or review remotely, while we assemble your project and add the polish. Finally, we deliver to any number of specifications or standards that you may need.

We’re also happy to offer our services a la carte, so if you only need editing, or just a video production team, or just some scripting, we can handle that, too.

When Do We Start?

Someone has to make the first move! We think we’d be a great fit for whatever you’re thinking up, and would love to talk more about how we can get that dream to a screen in a way that’s profoundly, uniquely true to you and your story.
